FAQ
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can try VidNotes in your browser without signing up for anything. Just paste a video link and you'll get a transcript right away. If you decide to upgrade to a paid plan later, that happens through the App Store or Stripe and only asks for the basics.
What languages are supported?
VidNotes works with English and 30+ other languages, including Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Korean, and more. It handles different accents and dialects, and you can even mix languages inside one video. AI summaries and flashcards come back in the same language as the source.
How accurate is the transcription?
VidNotes runs on top-tier speech-to-text models, so accuracy is high on clear audio. Background noise, mic quality, and how clearly someone speaks all affect the result. For YouTube videos that already have captions, VidNotes uses those directly, which gets you near-perfect accuracy.
What's the maximum video length?
There's no hard limit. VidNotes handles 30-second clips and multi-hour lectures or meetings just fine. Longer videos process in the background with progress updates, so you can keep using the app while it works.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Videos are encrypted in transit, and we don't keep your video files after transcription. Transcripts live on your device, not on our servers. You decide what to export, share, or delete. We never sell user data.
What platforms is VidNotes available on?
VidNotes is on iOS (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro) via the App Store, as a web app at app.vidnotes.app that works in any modern browser, and as a Chrome extension for instant YouTube transcription. Android is also live on Google Play.
